How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Lots of people hate the colour of their teeth and want to change the shade. People want whiter teeth for various reasons, including looking younger and more attractive. There are multiple ways to achieve this goal, but how does teeth whitening work?
Whitening toothpastes contain special ingredients that attempt to remove surface stains from the teeth.
Bleaching, on the other hand, actually changes the colour of the teeth by penetrating the enamel and altering it at a molecular level.
Teeth whitening is achieved through a variety of chemicals including hydrogen peroxide and carbamide hydroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is common in over-the-counter products while carbamide hydroxide is often used in professional bleaching treatments.
Some treatments include laser treatments, for example Zoom.
Professional treatments generally provide better results, these treatments almost always take place in a dentist’s practice.
Be sure to research properly and follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging your teeth.
Damage to the enamel can lead to increased sensitivity and cavities.
We always recommend getting professional advice from your dentist (Come in and speak with Dr Mark Cull).
We are here to help you make the right choice so that you can achieve brighter, whiter teeth.
We have found that the combination of in chair treatments and home maintenance gets the best results.
How To Fix Stained and Discoloured Teeth?
Are you worried about stained and discoloured teeth? Maybe you are dreaming of a whiter and brighter smile? If so, don't worry! We can help you get your smile looking its best again.
Here are some tips on how to fix discolouration and stains on your teeth:
Avoid foods and drinks that can stain your teeth. This includes coffee, tea, red wine, and foods with dark colours like berries.
Practice good oral hygiene habits. This means brushing and flossing regularly, and using mouthwash to help remove any stubborn stains.
Talk to your dentist about professional whitening treatments. If you have deep-set stains, your dentist can help you choose the best treatment option for you.
